Inspired by the iconic Mogao Caves(also know as the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas), this piece seamlessly merges art and nature. The artist has skillfully combined the ancient element of rock-cut sculpture with modern slab building to create a unique and rustic aesthetic. Hand-textured with delicate blossom stamps, the mug captures the essence of the Mogao Caves’ spiritual ambiance.

*****How it made****

Each Mogao Mug is a testament to artisanal skill. Our artisans begin by carefully cutting clay slabs into the desired shape. After allowing them to dry to the perfect consistency, intricate blossom patterns are delicately impressed onto the clay using handmade stamps. Finally, the artist skillfully shapes and joins the slabs to create the beloved mug form.
