Each Harmony Mug is a handcrafted journey that begins with the creation of a ceramic mug where art and tradition converge. Skilled artisans start by centering a mound of clay on the potter’s wheel, their fingers guiding the spinning mass as it transforms into a symmetrical form. The mug dries slowly to prevent cracking, then enters an 800°C kiln for bisque firing, a process that hardens the clay and provides a sturdy base for the intricate work ahead.
The magic unfolds in the carving: artisans use tiny tools to etch elaborate patterns—like interlocking geometric shapes or flowing vines—into the bisque surface, each groove a nod to 1200-year-old Cizhouware techniques. A contrasting clay, such as deep charcoal against ivory, is carefully pressed into the carvings, embodying the yin-yang philosophy of balance. Excess clay is smoothed away, leaving a design that seems to float beneath the surface, a testament to the artisan’s precision.
Finally, a transparent glaze is brushed onto the hand made ceramic mugs like liquid glass, sealing the carvings and ensuring a silky finish. The mug returns to the kiln at 1280°C, where intense heat fuses the glaze into a glossy armor, enhancing both its strength and the vivid contrast of the yin-yang design. After a month of dedication—from throwing the clay to the final firing—each mug emerges as a unique masterpiece, its handcrafted details and artisanal character ready to elevate every sip with a touch of timeless harmony.
